Whānau Kahungungu Takiwātanga Wānanga

Join us for two practical, whānau-centred wānanga focused on supporting tamariki whaitakiwātanga and their whānau. Delivered in partnership with Ngāti Kahungunu, these wānanga are an opportunity to build knowledge, share practical tools and strengthen the support surrounding autistic tamariki and their whānau.

Through practical learning and shared kōrero, we explore takiwātanga from a strengths-based lens, celebrating the beauty, diversity, and potential of our tamariki. Whānau will leave with deeper knowledge, day-to-day strategies, and renewed confidence to navigate their unique journeys.

Thursday 19 November, 9.30am-2.30pm | Wānanga for Pou Tiaki and Whānau Caregivers

This wānanga is for pou tiaki, whāngai caregivers and whānau who are caring for autistic tamariki. This will be a practical and supportive space where whānau can ask questions, share experiences and leave with strategies that make sense for their own whānau.

Friday 20 November, 9.30am-2.30pm | Wānanga for Kaimahi

This wānanga is designed for Ngāti Kahungunu kaimahi who work alongside autistic tamariki and their whānau. The day will build understanding of takiwātanga and strengthen the confidence of kaimahi, in ways that are practical, responsive and whānau-centred.

I have some questions about the wānanga, who can I contact?

If you have any pātai please feel free to contact:

  • Jess Hita (Kanorau) - admin@kanorau.org

  • Georgina Te Amo (Kahungungu Iwi) - georgina@kahungunu.iwi.nz

To ensure the wānanga are tailored to meet the needs of our whānau it is important a lot of thought goes into the pre-planning to ensure we are sharing the right information with you. Register your interest below to attend the Kanorau Takiwātanga whānau wānanga in Kahungungu.
